Maura Huebl - Language Arts Teacher

Hi! I'm Maura Huebl, language arts teacher at Vantage Point. I love teaching literature and writing. It is an art form that has helped me through many stormy days, and I teach hoping that my students will discover the same power from words that I did. I focus on teaching novels that I believe connect to my students' everyday lives. There is nothing more exciting to me than when a student can't put a book down and is able to find the underlying themes and lessons hidden in a great book.

I was born and raised in Denver and I am very proud of that. I love the richness of the music and art culture in this city and try to share that with my students. I am an avid photographer, music fan, and croquet player. When I'm not in the classroom, I'm normally playing in the city I love and taking pictures of it! I couldn't imagine living anywhere else and would never be able to tell when I'm facing west without the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

My education started in Denver Public Schools, spent some quality years in Aurora, and continued on to the University of Colorado at Denver. I have a BFA in Photography and I am in the process of completing my MA in Secondary Education by the summer of 2010.

Although I am new to Vantage Point, I can already feel my place in this school! The students and staff are incredible and so accepting. I am proud to be at a school that is so focused on the success of every student. The size of Vantage Point is an amazing asset in student learning. I truly believe that the relationships we build with our students are what guide them towards success. And, there is plenty of that going on in this school!

I can be reached by phone 720-972-8351 or e-mail.
