| I am originally from South Dakota, but have lived in many different parts of our great nation - from the old adobes of Santa Fe to the wilds of Baltimore and parts in between. After serving in Hawaii in the U.S. Marine Corps, I returned home to the Great White North and received my degrees in Biology and Environmental Management from South Dakota State University, home of the fighting Jackrabbits. Pretty fierce huh?
Away from school I keep busy maintaining my fleet of vehicles, which includes 1948 Buick, a 1955 Chevrolet Street Rod, and 1967 Military Jeep. What little time I have left over I spend with my family, or knitting humorous cummerbunds.
Although my original plan was to study history, this became a hobby when I decided to find out more about how this crazy universe works. Science is not only the subject I teach, it's also something that fills my time outside of school. I enjoy getting out into the natural world to study it up close by hiking out into for a spell and looking around for myself.
I chose to teach at Vantage Point because the smaller size gives me the chance to know my students better than larger setting could. I like to think I have more to have more to teach than chemicals and fulcrums and what not, and VPHS gives me the opportunity to do that. What has kept me here is the students and staff and the special quality of the way they interact with each other and the community around them.
